The Family Planning Association (FPA) wanted to create an engaging sex and relationships education (SRE) resource to use as part of personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education for primary school children.
Aurion Learning worked collaboratively with the FPA to design, structure and deliver a custom digital learning solution, Growing up with Yasmine and Tom.
The new online educational resource contained engaging and age appropriate SRE and PSHE content for all ages of primary school pupils.
Key activities included:
The resource offers interactive and visual prompts for individual and group activities on interactive whiteboards or for extended learning in a classroom environment.
Growing up with Yasmine and Tom can be purchased by schools via an annual subscription model through the FPA shopping cart on the FPA website. Customers login to the learning resource via a secure username and password.
The resource has been purchased by over 200 schools and provides a significant recurring revenue stream for the FPA, thus meeting the primary objective of the project.
“This resource was developed in response to a need identified by people with learning disabilities, their carers, support workers and professionals whom they encounter in their daily lives. It was a challenge for FPA and Aurion to get it right in terms of content, design and accessibility. The challenge would have not have been met if an effective and successful partnership between FPA and Aurion had not been established. A partnership which was underpinned by a commitment to people with learning disabilities." Dr Audrey Simpson OBE, Director of FPA in Northern Ireland
